A minimum of 25 percent of the net income from each domestic Affiliate Race supports the national Komen for the Cure Grant Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational and scientific conferences around the world.
Up to 75 percent of the net income from each domestic Affiliate Race stays in the local community to fund breast health education, breast cancer screening and treatment projects.
Priority 1 Community Grants up to $10,000 which address and improve the practical and structural challenges of women in Valencia and Torrance counties along the breast care continuum.
Priority 2 Community Grants up to $10,000 which address and improve early screening mammography practices among women in Valencia and Torrance counties.
Priority 3 Community Grants up to $50,000 which reduce the barrier of costs for breast imaging from screening to treatment for women under or uninsured in the service area.
Priority 4 Community Grants up to $20,000 which alleviate financial barriers or cost to treatment and support in the service area.
Priority 5 Community Grants up to $20,000 which support breast cancer patients through psycho-social support systems specifically designed to improve treatment outcomes and survivorship in the service area.
Priority 1 Community Educational Small Grants up to $10,000 to improve breast cancer awareness and identify barriers for women in Torrance and Valencia counties.
Priority 2 Community Educational Small Grants up to $10,000 to increase knowledge of National screening and surveillance guidelines among healthcare providers and personnel.
Priority 3 Community Educational Small Grants up to $10,000 to educate women in the service area about the early detection of breast cancer and the recommended guidelines.
